The ISR Difference: Safety first

Infant Swimming Resource offers the safest and most effective survival swimming instruction for infants and young children in the world.  Founded  in 1966 by behavioral psychologist Dr. Harvey Barnett, ISR has over 50 years of ongoing research and development with over 7 million safe lessons.

Unlike traditional swimming lessons

Each one-on-one customized lesson fosters the development of swimming and safety in infants and young children. Focused on your child's stage in development, each lesson caters to your child's abilities in the water. As young children are sensori-motor learners (how they learn to crawl and walk) ISR lessons foster this learning style. The results are infants and young children who become "aquatic problem solvers." This means, no matter how they got in the water, they know exactly what to do to get themselves into a float, or find the nearest exit.

Unique Safety Protocols

PRIOR to beginning lessons:  ISR requires a medical history reviewed by a team of medical professionals to identify any health issues that may affect your child's lessons and safety before being accepted into the survival swimming program.

Daily B.U.D.S monitoring:  Each day before the child gets in the water with me, I will ask you a series of questions called B.U.D.S. This stands for bowels, urine, diet and sleep. This information helps me get better insight into how your child is feeling both physically and emotionally everyday so that every lesson is  safe and effective. It is so helpful to know when your young one is teething, hasn't slept well, or ate too close to lesson time.

Each ISR Instructor goes through an extensive interviewing process before being accepted into the ISR student Instructor training program.  Once excepted each Instructor completes and 8 week in-water training with a Master ISR instructor. Each Instructor completes rigorous  scholastic work in the areas of child anatomy, physiology, behavioral psychology and child developmental history. After completion of the program each Instructor progresses their learning through yearly workshops and yearly recertification. Suffice to say, ISR Instructors are armed with the hands on skill and the foundations unsurpassed in the industry.
